Individual development

Young athletes aren’t small adults.

Playing more sport isn’t always the same as developing the athlete.

Young athletes need different physical qualities at different stages of their development.

The question isn’t “What exercises should they do?” It’s “What does this athlete need right now?”

Develop what matters

We identify what matters for this athlete, right now.

Depending on the individual athlete, their sport and current priorities. We don’t try to develop everything at once.

The athlete behind the sport

Sport develops sporting skill. FitBar develops the athlete behind it.

FitBar considers the athlete’s age and stage of development, training experience, movement competency, current capabilities, sport demands and overall training load.

Assess

Where are you now?

Understand your goals, health, history, movement, capabilities and relevant starting point.

Next: Prioritise →

Every athlete is different

You don’t need to choose the pathway before we meet.

The right starting point depends on the athlete’s age and development, training experience, current capabilities, sport, competition schedule and individual priorities.

Tell me about your athlete first. If FitBar looks appropriate, we’ll discuss their situation and I’ll recommend the next step.

When a deeper view is useful

Comprehensive Athlete Assessment.

For some athletes, a more comprehensive assessment may be useful before determining the next development phase.

01Movement screening
02Physical competency
03Relevant capacity & performance testing
04Athlete Assessment Report
Not every athlete requires the same assessment.

We assess what is safe, relevant and useful for guiding the athlete’s development.

How to start

Tell me about your athlete.

You don’t need to decide what your athlete needs before the initial session.

Talk & Assess

We discuss the athlete’s goals and development, then look at relevant movement or exercises where useful.
